The Minnesota Center for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics Summer Symposium, Modeling Risk in Banking and Insurance - Catching the Next Crisis aims to address the challenges of risk management and modeling in ever changing and interconnected financial markets with evolving regulation. Our goal is to create a forum for MCFAM, students and the local banking and insurance industry to begin learning together and exchanging ideas related to best risk management practices. We will cover new ways to revamp our current risk toolbox and talk about how we create a future risk toolbox so that we are ready to catch the next crisis before it ever happens.
Students and practitioners will come together for an intensive three day symposium which will look at the broad overview of risk taxonomy and regulation and then delve deeper into specific risk modeling areas for both banking and insurance. In addition to the detailed sessions on risk modeling, risk leaders from Securian Financial Group, US Bank, Wells Fargo, The Travelers Companies and Allianz Life will participate in a panel discussion to pinpoint the impact of new regulation on their businesses, including the challenges and open issues.
