The global financial crisis is over, or has it just begun? How do our regulators and financial companies deal with the aftermath? So far, Canada's financial community has continued its own record of sound risk management, but how do we sustain this reputation during the growing global turbulence?
Canada's Global Risk Institute in Financial Services, the newly formed public-private partnership between governments and the financial sector dedicated to sound, integrated risk management, is sponsoring its first International Forum on Financial Risk on October 20th to explore these questions. The Forum will be held at One King Street West in Toronto's Financial District. Click to view the Forum Agenda and Speaker Profiles
Keynote addresses will include Dr. Robert Engle, the Recipient of the 2003 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, who will speak on "How to Avoid the Next Financial Crisis" that is, detecting and regulating systemic risk. A centrepiece panel on “Challenges Posed by Regulation” will be chaired by Leon Bloom, Leader Deloitte’s Global Capital Markets & Regulatory Practice, and feature Jim Leech, the CEO of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Morton Friis, the Chief Risk Officer at the Royal Bank.
