Nick Ronalds, Executive Director, FIA Asia, is responsible for managing the Asian affiliate of the Futures Industry Association. In addition to his work for the FIA, he is President of his firm, AsiasMarkets, which specializes in financial markets consulting and strategic advisory for Asian markets.

Ronalds’ career in the futures industry spans more than 20 years and has included senior positions at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the futures brokerage units of several global banks. In the 1990’s he was the first Managing Director of the joint Asian Representative office of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), based in Tokyo, Japan.

Ronald has advised a wide range of market participants, including central banks, mutual funds, and natural resource companies on the effective use of exchange-traded derivatives for risk management and portfolio enhancement. He was invited to China by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce prior to the launch of China’s first centralized commodity market in 1990 to advise them on the development and management of futures exchanges.

He has published many articles on futures and financial topics in publications as diverse as Futures Industry, Caijing Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. He is a CFA charter holder and past-Chairman of the CFA Society of Chicago.

This event is organized by the Master of Science in Financial Engineering Program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
